The longtime Mission Hills home of late Henry and Marion Bloch could soon be tore down to make room for a new family. Bloch, philanthropist and co-founder of Kansas City-based H&R Block Inc., designed and built their home to raise their family in 1963. The 7,472-square-foot home sits on 1.84 acres and features a pool, sauna, tennis court, and an advanced heating, cooling and dehumidifying system that helped keep safe the Bloch’s priceless collection of Impressionist art. They lived in the colonial-style home for more than 50 years.
NSPJ Architects firm was founded in June of 1961 by Howard Nearing, AIA, and this residence was one of the first 50 homes Nearing ever designed.
Since the firm’s inception, we have provided comprehensive architectural and site planning design services on over 6,000 projects, encompassing a diverse range of types and complexities. Throughout the years, NSPJ completed several remodels on this home including the slate roof, kitchen, pavilion, pool, cabana, basement and a garage addition.
Our devotion and commitment to strong client relationships and successful / profitable projects are core standards at NSPJ. We listen to clients’ needs and desires to create designs that reflect their personality and vision. Celebrating our 60th Anniversary, we are honored to be part of the Bloch history.
