Congratulations to Norman School Lofts and Copper Ridge Apartments for picking up two esteemed awards at the 2019 Annual Kansas City CSI Awards. The CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) Awards recognize outstanding achievements by showcasing innovative design, craftsmanship and overall project deliveries in our region. Norman School Lofts won for Iconic Building on History Registry in Kansas City. Copper Ridge Apartments won for Excellence in Craftsmanship. The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is a half-century old national association of more than 13,000 volunteers of the design and construction industry. These volunteers are experts in their disciplines and work to improve the project delivery process and documentation. The motivation of this investigative group is to provide local networking, high-quality education programs and events that help members work together to share knowledge and real-world solutions with spec (specifications) writing. The Kansas City Chapter is among 140 chapters across the country and is in the North Central Region.
Norman School Lofts won an award for Iconic Building on History Registry in Kansas City. We restored the grand limestone exterior and reused as much of the interior contributing fabric to keep as much history in the design as possible. Originally built in 1906, it is an example of restrained Jacobethan Revival architecture. In 2015, it was placed on the National Historic Register. Del Properties is the developer and HarenLaughlin Construction was the general contactor for this historic project.
Copper Ridge Apartments won an award for Excellence in Craftsmanship. This award was for the excellence in adhering to specifications and quality craftsmanship in the implementation of the specification. Working alongside Northpoint Development and Neighbors Construction, this premier apartment complex house 309 apartments and resort-style amenities. This community includes a stand alone clubhouse with top of the line amenities and leasing office, and six controlled access apartment buildings containing one and two bedroom units with attached garages, carports and surface parking.
