2021 KC Business Journal Capstone Award Winners for The Donovan and Carnegie Village Senior Living & Healthcare!!

The 2021 Capstone Awards honor 32 projects completed in 2020 throughout the metro. To be honored, each project had to be move-in ready by the end of 2020.   Winners were selected in the following categories: adaptive re-use, architectural design, community impact, industrial, mixed-use, multifamily, office, retail, senior living and sustainability. Each year, the Kansas City Business Journal recognizes 25 projects that have enhanced Kansas City real estate and the area as a whole. Once again, NSPJ Architects has been honored with two projects for the 2021 Capstone Award Winners in the Multifamily and Senior Living categories.

Multifamily

The Donovan Apartments located in Lee’s Summit’s booming tech corridor, The Donovan Apartments meets market demand for resort-style apartment living, following the record lease-up of Phase I, Summit Square Apartments. The community’s 1- & 2-bedroom units feature high-end interior finishes and large windows.  Unique amenities include an indoor rockclimbing wall, sports simulation lounge, and spa with steam room, dry sauna and plunge pool, while outdoor amenities include a salt water pool, grilling station, and hammock garden. The Donovan was 50% leased in 6 months with 0 upfront move-in concessions given and has outperformed competitors with its spectacular amenity package, value and community reputation. Congratulations to our partners, NorthPoint Development and Neighbors Construction!

Senior living

Carnegie Village Senior Living included repairs to fix a leaky roof in the existing library. It was determined that the library itself was in an undesirable location.  Goal was to activate common area spaces and updating the finishes.

The result focused on reprogramming the common amenities with an emphasis on the lobby to create a revamped reception area, office, salon, fitness, reading lounge, multipurpose room, dining room, hearth, and pub. The most impactful change was the removal of the grand staircase that filled the lobby and blocked the view from the front door. Finishes served various functions for increased social engagement outside of the private rooms. Congratulations to our partners, Tutera Senior Living & Health Care!
