Shingle Style Lake Home

The transformation of this lake home began with the client’s need for more bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate extended family who gather at this residence on summer weekends. With some “inside the box” thinking that completely remodeled the interior space, we were able to add three baths and two bedrooms within the existing house footprint.

The client also wanted to update the street-side of the residence to a style that was appropriate for a lake home, so NSPJ designed a shingle-style exterior for its coastal influence. The clients loved these adjustments and asked us to renovate the lake side exterior of the home, too.

After studying the lake-side elevation, NSPJ determined the current deck was blocking the view down the hill to the lake. To provide maximum views of the lake, the architect narrowed and covered the deck from the home. The patio was lowered for more entertaining space while not blocking the view from the main level. The result is enough space to entertain throughout the home from inside to outside.
