The Ridgeview Corporate Center is a mixed-use site in Olathe, Kan. NSPJ was tasked with designing this comprehensive multifamily community that features two apartment buildings with 337 units each and a span of indoor and outdoor luxury amenities. The site also includes three office buildings. The landscape architecture for this project plays a pivotal role in creating a cohesive outdoor environment that brings the community to life.Â
A primary goal of the landscape design was allowing pedestrian and vehicular flow while minimizing conflicts between the two. A private central drive establishes a defined streetscape for the community, and a secondary street creates natural separation between residential and office buildings. Together, these road placements support complementary movement between vehicles and pedestrians.Â
Each apartment building includes an internal courtyard that provides outdoor community spaces and scenic views for residents with interior facing units. The luxury courtyard amenities include a pool, hot tub, walking path and several gathering spaces with seating and firepits.Â
Prioritizing visual interest for residents was central to the landscape design. Each apartment faces either the courtyard or the streetscape, both enhanced with plantings that complement the surrounding landscape.Â
The project also required close collaboration with the client and the city to ensure the plans aligned with long-range planning goals and met the client’s vision.Â
