Resurrection Cemetery

This Resurrection Cemetery was designed for the Catholic Cemeteries of Northeast Kansas and cultivates a serene setting for remembrance and prayer while drawing visual cues from the architecture of an adjacent cemetery. 

A composition of columns incorporates columbarium spaces for the placement of cremation urns in the committal shelter. Since these elements serve as both a functional and architecturally aesthetic feature, the proportions of the structure carefully create intimacy and structural balance with the rest of the design.  

The surrounding landscape, designed by NSPJ’s landscape architecture team, extends the experience of serenity beyond the structure itself. Inset concrete detailing along a processional path adds depth and texture throughout the site. A dedicated rosary walk is woven into the design, with a series of circular markers positioned along the path to represent the individual prayers of the rosary. Together, the architecture and landscape architecture create a tranquil setting for remembrance and reflection, offering visitors a peaceful space to honor Catholic traditions.
