Located in Mission Hills, Kan., this French Colonial home underwent a complete transformation for a family who moved from the East Coast. The clients had a few requirements for the home – an open floor plan for the kitchen and living spaces, main level laundry and an outdoor kitchen — but left the design to NSPJ Architects.
The result is a residence that incorporates custom touches throughout that create beautiful living spaces and continuity on each level. Some of the design changes included moving the kitchen to the back of the home, incorporating larger windows in the front of the house and opening up the second floor with dormers to maximize the natural light.
The covered outdoor kitchen and living area in the back of the house is ideal for entertainment, with a seamless flow between the interior and exterior. The home is the result of a wonderful partnership with the client, who gave NSPJ creative license to design the exterior and interior. The client was then able to personally add many of the finishing touches in this residence.
