Leawood Transitional

Leawood, Kan.

Located in Leawood, Kan., this luxurious home underwent a complete transformation, from the inside out. The clients wanted to remodel with a clean, fresh transitional, neoclassical style from their suburban craftsman residence.

In order to accomplish this transformation, the floorplan needed to be reimagined to open up the rooms and the walled staircase. The architect designed a floating staircase, removing the walls around the stairs and dining room to create an unobstructed view into the home, connecting the dining room to the kitchen and living spaces. Floor to ceiling, modern windows were installed to maximize the ambient light through the home. The garage stairs were moved to maximize space at the back of the home for a mud room, laundry room and pantry storage.

On the exterior, the larger windows, a lighter color on the stucco and treatment on the stone helped to transform the outward appearance of the home. The architect designed a dramatic front entry, with an inviting seating area next to it for a stunning new look.
