Double Yoke Farm

“Double Yoke Farm” is located in Bonner Springs, Kansas. At the heart of the property is a newly designed farmhouse where the original once stood. To keep the scale of the home true to its farmhouse roots, we created a bit of an illusion by designing a two-story portion that appears as an original, white, clapboard sided farmhouse. Then we designed smaller, one-story, pine-clad wings, which appear as additions made to the house over time. Beneath this traditional farmhouse appearance is a modern, open floor plan to accommodate this family’s lifestyle and entertaining needs.

The landscape architecture drew inspiration from traditional farm plant materials and focused on several key elements. We enhanced the architecture with family-friendly spaces off of the rear of the home, which includes a patio, fire pit and garden spaces. At the front of the home, we provided a buffer from the road and created a logical approach for both vehicles and pedestrians.
