Backyard Getaway

This lush backyard was created to provide a stay-at-home getaway for the owners. A dry creekbed and pondless water feature were created around the existing fire pit and patio. A walkway formed by five paving stones with plantable joints continues around to the front of the house. Artwork from the owners’ collection is carefully sited throughout the property.

A short walk from the back door is an in-ground hot tub, surrounded by a trellis and layers of plant materials to provide privacy and a sound buffer.

The owners are avid gardeners, so a custom potting shed was designed for the back of the house. It provides a comfortable shaded workspace without imposing on the serenity of the space.
