Marketing Intern

Qualifications

  • Entry level position for an individual who is studying or has earned a degree in Marketing or closely related field such as Advertising, Public Relations or Business Communications
  • Completed at least 2 years of study towards degree indicated above
  • Previous intern experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Photography/Videography and Instagram/Facebook/YouTube
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite, especially InDesign and Premier Pro
  • Familiarity with, or interest in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Design

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with great attention to details
  • Inquisitive and eager to learn; takes initiative to ask questions
  • Self-starter who takes direction and feedback, and has a solutions-based approach to problem solving
  • Organized and effective at prioritizing tasks, while remaining flexible to real-time changes that may occur

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Intern will collaborate to execute routine functions of Marketing in support of NSPJ’s objectives and goals. This internship will provide real-world work experience in complement with college-level coursework towards a Marketing (or related) major. Work will include, but is not limited to the following:
    • Communications Materials: writing, editing and proofreading press releases, media pitches, awards submissions and website content
    • Social Media: writing, producing and editing content, both written and visual (photos and videos)
    • Coordination: provide support for marketing outreach and scheduling and any marketing-led events

Essential Employment Requirements

  • Regular attendance in-office according to schedule and accurate recording of time
  • Essential for the effective performance in this role and the successful operation of the firm’s business, the individual must be able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and constructively in English with NSPJ employees, consultants and clients in order to convey and understand details relating to projects and other business-related items 
  • Able to work cooperatively with co-workers and teams
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Daily use of computers and the computer programs mentioned above
  • Ability to work at a desk throughout the work day; adjustable (sit or stand) desks are standard
  • Must be able to see, interpret and analyze data in color on both computer screens/programs and paper
  • Own and able to effectively use a smartphone for social media posting and scheduling
  • Performs effectively under conditions of occasional stress and pressure
