HUMAN RESOURCES (Recruiter)

JOB SUMMARY

The Recruiter research, develops, and implements effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for the firm.  This full time, exempt position reports to the HR Generalist.


  DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handles or assists with the various employee life cycle stages
  • Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process
  • Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
  • Works with management to identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the firm
  • Arranges for advertising or posting of job openings
  • Attends and participates in college job fairs and recruiting sessions
  • Partners with staffing agencies to assist with hiring efforts
  • Reviews incoming employment applications, evaluates qualifications or eligibility, and follows up with applicants asking initial screening questions or informing them of not being further pursued for employment
  • Schedules, attends, and conducts interviews with our co-presidents and other stakeholders
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resources staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details
  • Onboards new staff members
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Assists with employee events and recognition programs
  • Responds to basic employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Creates, processes, verifies, assists with, and maintains personnel related documentation such as new employee records, FMLA requests, benefit changes, timesheets, and overtime, etc.
  • Responds to verifications of employment
  • Maintains compliant and current HR files, required labor law posters, notices, and I-9 forms
  • Develops a working knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Assists with administrative and clerical duties for Human Resources and the Business Office
  • Provides backup support for the receptionist, assists answering incoming calls, greeting clients, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including telephone etiquette
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and using the Recruiter or Recruiter Lite platform to manage job postings & source passive candidates
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs
  • Ability to develop rapport and credibility at all levels of the firm and to collaborate across functional areas to work towards goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, a related field, or equivalent work experience required
  • At least five years managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process highly preferred

  ESSENTIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to see (close, and at a distance), listen, speak, sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach overhead with hands and arms, use hands to handle/feel, and lift/move up to 25lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer daily
  • Daily office attendance for a typical 8-hour workday (8am-5pm) with an hour for lunch and accurate time recording
  • Essential for the effective performance in this role and the successful operation of the firm’s business, the individual must be able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and constructively in English with NSPJ employees, consultants, and clients in order to convey and understand details relating to projects and other business-related items.
  • Able to work both independently and cooperatively with coworkers and teams
  • Must be able to consistently exercise discretion and independent judgement
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines
  • Must be able to research, evaluate, analyze, and interpret data and facts to make reasoned judgments
