The Mission Gateway Element Hotel is the integration of an Element by Westin, Marriott hotel, into the larger Mission Gateway development in Mission, Kansas. The design houses 202 extended stay hotel rooms ranging from smaller, typical hotel rooms to the one bedroom and conference suites that are reminiscent of apartment units. An indoor swimming pool, fitness center, meeting room, bar and spacious lounge welcome each Element guest on Level 2 of the building. Furthermore, a “backyard” with fire pit, grill area, and seating is nestled within beautiful landscaping and twinkling lights. The hotel is connected to a parking garage, that serves the entire development, via skywalk on the North side. The larger theme throughout the development is connectivity. Element guests will be able to traverse the site, easily, on foot to dining, shopping and business destinations.

Typical for an Element hotel, the architectural design is modern. Because this is a Marriott product, there are prototypical design concepts that are required to keep consistency in the brand. However, since this specific location is part of a larger development, the design needed to coordinate with the surrounding buildings. We were able to take the prototype design from Marriott and morph it into a style that would relate to the development. As well as ensure that the brand was still recognizable. Working with the client and Marriott, we were able to custom design several rooms. The lounge space and breakfast room are  couple of the custom spaces. We worked closely with the client and our Marriott representative to celebrate the brand’s identity while bringing NSPJ’s high design standard into the space.

Construction will begin in Spring of 2020 with expected completion by Summer 2021.
